They Told Me It Was Impossible – And I Did It Anyway

There are moments in life when someone says something that stays with you.

Not because it inspires you.
But because it limits you.

“They told me it was impossible.”

At the time, it doesn’t feel like motivation.
It feels like doubt being placed in front of you.

But over time, I realized something:

“Impossible” is often just something that hasn’t been attempted yet.

Recently, I had the opportunity to share my story in an interview with Rachel Kline for Authority Magazine.

Not just what I’ve built, but how I think.

You can read the full interview here:

From Structure to Creativity

My journey didn’t start in creativity.

It started in structure.

I began my career in banking, where I learned discipline, responsibility, and precision. But something was always missing, I was drawn to ideas, to storytelling, to understanding how people think and feel.

That pull led me to co-found Davel Creative Agency.

What started as a small agency built with our own savings grew into an international company working across industries and countries.

But growth didn’t come from doing more.

It came from seeing differently.

The Moment People Called “Impossible”

Ten years ago, while I was nine months pregnant, I made the decision to start the agency.

Most people around me said the same thing:

“Not now.”
“Wait.”
“This is not the right time.”

But I’ve learned something simple:

If you believe in a vision, timing should not define your courage.

We didn’t wait.

We built.

Step by step, project by project, decision by decision.

And over time, the results spoke louder than any argument ever could.

What Actually Makes the Difference

People often think success comes from tools, tactics, or execution.

It doesn’t.

It comes from clarity.

Today, I see it constantly, teams moving fast, launching campaigns, creating content, running ads…

But skipping the most important part:

What are we actually trying to say?

Who are we saying it to?

Why should it matter?

Execution without clarity creates noise.

Clarity creates impact.

The Philosophy Behind My Work

Everything I do today- from campaigns to strategy- is built on one core belief:

Marketing should be human before it is strategic.

That belief shaped the C.O.S.M.O.S. Method, a framework designed to bring structure to creativity and clarity to decision-making.

It’s not about doing more.

It’s about understanding better.

What “Impossible” Taught Me

Looking back, both entrepreneurship and karate taught me the same lesson:

Discipline matters more than motivation

Consistency matters more than speed

Belief matters before proof exists

And most importantly:

You don’t prove people wrong by arguing.
You prove them wrong by building.

Thank You

I want to sincerely thank Rachel Kline and the Authority Magazine team for the thoughtful interview and for creating a platform that highlights real journeys behind the work.

Grateful to share not just my story, but my perspective.

“See Me, Not My Cancer” Campaign Wins 2 Awards

The social impact campaign “See Me, Not My Cancer,” created by Davel Creative Agency in collaboration with Cancer Support Community, has received two international recognitions at the MUSE Creative Awards 2026.

The campaign was awarded:

Gold Winner — Social Media / Community

Silver Winner — Social Media / Public Health

These awards recognize creative work that demonstrates excellence in communication, design, and meaningful impact.

A Campaign About Identity, Not Illness

“See Me, Not My Cancer” was created to challenge one of the most common experiences people with cancer describe: being defined only by their diagnosis.

Instead of focusing on illness, the campaign highlights the human being behind the condition — their relationships, daily moments, personality, and dignity.

The visual storytelling centers around simple but powerful scenes of everyday life, reminding audiences that cancer does not erase identity, individuality, or humanity.

Creative Approach

The campaign used minimalistic illustration and emotionally direct messaging to communicate a universal idea:

People are more than their disease.

By placing familiar human interactions at the center of the visuals, the campaign invites viewers to reconsider how they perceive and interact with individuals facing serious health challenges.

The message is clear:
See the person first.

Collaboration for a Purpose

The project was developed through collaboration between Davel Creative Agency and Cancer Support Community, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, education, and hope to people affected by cancer.

Together, the teams aimed to create a campaign that would not only raise awareness but also shift perspectives.

Recognition and Continued Impact

Winning both Gold and Silver at the MUSE Creative Awards highlights the campaign’s growing impact and its ability to resonate across audiences.

More importantly, the recognition reinforces the importance of creative work that goes beyond marketing campaigns that contribute to empathy, awareness, and human understanding.

“See Me, Not My Cancer” continues to reach new audiences, encouraging a simple but powerful shift in perspective:

C.O.S.M.O.S. Revolution: The Creative Director Fusing Science and Strategy in Marketing

By John Smart
January 24, 2026

In an industry where creativity is often driven by instinct and analytics by afterthought, Los Angeles–based Executive Creative Director Elen Gasparyan is proposing a different model — one grounded in both science and strategy.

As Co-Founder of Davel Creative Agency, Gasparyan developed the C.O.S.M.O.S. Method, a structured marketing framework designed to evaluate and strengthen campaigns before launch. The methodology has undergone academic peer review, been published in scientific collections of Plekhanov University of Economics, and is indexed on Google Scholar — a rare distinction for a framework developed within an agency setting.

From Economics to Creative Systems

Gasparyan’s background reflects an unusual path for a creative leader. She holds a degree in Management from the Armenian State University of Economics and a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute in Dublin. Her career began in banking at HSBC, where she developed experience in strategic planning, customer management, and performance evaluation.

She later launched Davel Creative Agency — an integrated marketing firm now based in Glendale, California. The agency has delivered more than 700 projects across healthcare, technology, wellness, beauty, manufacturing, lifestyle, and national brand sectors.

Gasparyan also serves as a judge for the Webby Awards and is a multi–Gold MUSE Award recipient, further reinforcing her dual role as both creator and evaluator of industry work.

The C.O.S.M.O.S. Framework

C.O.S.M.O.S. stands for:

Clarify

Observe

Shape

Materialize

Orchestrate

Survey

Unlike traditional creative processes that rely heavily on brainstorming and iteration, C.O.S.M.O.S. introduces a scoring and diagnostic system. Campaign concepts are evaluated across structured criteria before production begins, helping teams identify weaknesses early and align creative output with measurable business goals.

The framework integrates principles from brand management theory, consumer behavior research, integrated marketing communications, and neuromarketing studies.

“Most marketing teams invest significant resources and then hope for results,” Gasparyan has stated in prior interviews. “This system allows assessment before that investment happens.”

From Academic Publication to Global Book

The methodology expanded beyond its academic origins into a published book titled:

The C.O.S.M.O.S. Method: A Framework for Marketing Campaign Evaluation — How to Score, Shape, and Strengthen Your Marketing Strategy.

The book translates the scientific structure into practical tools, worksheets, and evaluation models accessible to agencies, startups, and enterprise teams alike. The C.O.S.M.O.S. name is currently under trademark protection.

Within Davel Creative Agency, the framework functions as a campaign operating system, guiding projects from initial concept to post-launch analysis.

Bridging Emotion and Measurement

While the methodology is analytical, Gasparyan’s campaigns are recognized for emotional storytelling and strong visual execution. Her work spans brand launches, healthcare awareness initiatives, luxury retail projects, and national advertising efforts.

Industry coverage in Los Angeles Magazine, Forbes, and other business publications has highlighted her approach as a blend of academic rigor and human-centered creativity.

In an era increasingly defined by AI tools, automation, and performance dashboards, C.O.S.M.O.S. attempts to bring structure without sacrificing originality.

A Model for the Next Phase of Marketing

As marketing leaders face pressure to demonstrate measurable return on investment, frameworks that integrate prediction, scoring, and evaluation may become increasingly central.

C.O.S.M.O.S. introduces a model where creative work is not only inspired but engineered — assessed before launch and measured after execution.

With academic validation, global publication, and implementation across hundreds of campaigns, Gasparyan’s system represents a growing shift in how creative strategy may be built in the years ahead.

Moments like this remind me why I love what I do.

From evaluating world-class digital campaigns to celebrating winners in New York City, being part of The Webby Awards community continues to be one of the most meaningful professional experiences of my career.

Since 2023, I’ve served as an Associate Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), the invitation-only organization behind The Webby Awards. As a judge, I review work across advertising, branded content, and digital innovation — projects that often shape cultural conversations far beyond their original platforms.

What makes this experience powerful is not just the prestige of the work being evaluated. It’s the responsibility.

Judging is not about personal taste. It’s about recognizing strategic clarity, creative courage, measurable impact, and ethical storytelling. It’s about understanding how ideas move people — and how they move markets.

This year in NYC, celebrating winners wasn’t just an event. It was a reminder of how digital creativity continues to evolve. The conversations were thoughtful. The work was bold. The community was global.

The Webby Awards represent more than recognition. They represent standards. Standards for originality. For execution. For responsibility in the digital age.

Grateful for the people, the conversations, and the creativity.

And grateful to be part of a community that continues to raise the bar.

—
Elen Gasparyan
Executive Creative Director
Associate Member, IADAS
